An Easter Poem: He Lives Forevermore
This Easter poem is the result of my reflection on His incredible sacrifice. I pray these simple words encourage you to consider all Christ gave to benefit us.
The king upon the colt lamented
as the shout, “Hosanna!” rang.
“Oh, how I longed to gather you
yet you denied my name.”
Palm branches waved amid the throng
while tears coursed down His cheeks,
Misguided, lost, and desperate–
seeing they did not seek.
Praise lasted for a moment,
but it quickly passed
for soon He wore
a crown of thorns
and lots were crudely cast.
“Crucify!” and, “Save yourself!”,
the Lamb endured each jeer,
then God Almighty turned His back.
Oh, Father, please come near!
One final breath and Jesus died.
The sky portended gloom.
The few remaining by His side
placed Him in the tomb.
Without hope His followers mourned,
fear knocking at the door.
Till three days later He rose again
and lives forevermore!
