I’ve had the privilege of participating on some launch teams recently and reading some amazing books by women who love the Lord. Whether you need words to bolster your faith, bolster mental health, or engage compassion and imagination, these nonfiction books will capture your attention.
Top Nonfiction Releases
Make Up Your Mind offers practical tips and Biblical insights about some of the most common emotional mindsets with which people struggle including anxiety, helplessness, loneliness, anger, and scarcity. In a world reeling from lockdowns, riots, and more, Denise Pass and Michelle Nietert could not have written this book at a better time. Each chapter includes “keys” that explore the root of the issue, triggers, putting on the mindset of Christ, and action steps in the Counselor’s Corner. This nonfiction book is one I’ll keep on my shelf for easy access and recommend to others. Favorite quote: People don't need polite sayings when their world is falling apart. They need Jesus.@TheDenisePass @MichelleNietert #makeupyourmind Share on X From a place of hardship, Dr. Michelle Bengston has penned another beautiful book. Today is Going to Be a Good Day is a beautiful, hard-backed devotional. Chock-full of the promises of God but small enough to tuck in a gym bag or purse, it will help you remember your hope is not rooted in circumstances, but in Christ and that God’s mercies flow new and fresh each day. I recommend this book for those struggling with difficult circumstances, women balancing full schedules, as well as small groups or organizations that meet for devotional time. It’s perfect for a cancer care basket, birthday gift, or holiday exchange. Favorite quote: Jesus is going somewhere we can only go if we follow him.
Fiction for the HeartThe Dress Shop on King Street by Ashley Clark draws the reader into the dual stories of Millie and Harper–two women with the same dream but separated by generations. When their lives intersect, both are drawn to the same man who holds the key to the future. Unable to release a past based on secrecy and a bloodline she both feared and revered, Millie returns to Charleston searching for the grandson she never knew. At the same time, Harper attempts to escape the love and loss threatening to overwhelm her young heart. If American history and the struggles of racial tension tug at your heart, Ashley Clark’s book will capture your interest. Favorite quote: “Because all people belonged side by side, and she should be allowed to say so.” Children’s Books that Promote Wise ChoicesBax and His Bubbles, by Dr. Sonia Amin., helps children distinguish between unkind thoughts and those associated with emotions as well as those that are “true, kind, and excellent”. With its sweet illustrations and inviting text, children will connect to Bax and his experiences while parents and teachers have a wonderful tool to explore the power of decision making and thoughts with their child or classroom. A discussion guide is included at the back of the book. Favorite quote: “Always remember, we have the power to choose which thoughts we keep.” Which of these appeals to you?
